• A.R.E Exams

A.R.E. 4.0 was released July 2008. The ARE is now composed of SEVEN exam division:

When is the exam? How often do they hold the exam?

ARE is composed of (7) computer based exams. Exams are scheduled by you any day of the year once you receive authorization to test from your state board. It is scheduled through Prometric, a computer exam center.

Is there a specific order in which I should take the divisions?

Funkaar Studios recommends a testing sequence for highest success. Since each division overlaps with another division by almost 40% repeated content, the sequence orders the most relevant exams with greatest overlapping content. Our courses follow the recommended exam sequence. Please visit any ARE Ready Course page for details.

What degree do I need to become licensed?

Most state boards require you to hold a NAAB accredited 1st Professional Degree in Architecture and have completed IDP prior to testing. Some boards allow conxurrent testing while completing IDP Some state boards will accept experience in lue of a degree.

If I pass the ARE what would be other  requirements to get the license?

If you start testing now, you may need to complete the IDP( in California you also need CIDP + California Supplemental)

Would it be valid let's say for another 3 years when I get enough experience to be licensed?

Your exam score is valid for good if you complete all (7) divisions within a 5-year period. If you only pass a portion of the (7) divisions, you will have to retake these portions if you have not completed all (7) divisions within 5-years.

Funkaar Financial Aid

Funkaar Studios offers Financial aid by awarding free courses to Teaching Assistants:

FREE COURSE?

TA positions are now open. To qualify you must meet the following:

• student or recent graduate (2007 or later) from any Architecture program prefered
• must be available for the ENTIRE course (1-day or 2-day or 8-day or 11-week courses)
• as TA you will be acting as a Funkaar Studios representative
• must be energetic, polite to students and instructor
• must be available 1-hr prior to each class
• first one to arrive and last one to leave for each class
• duties include student check-in, distribution of handouts, assisting professors and class setup/cleanup
• failure to meet above requirements is subject to forfeit of TA position
• Funkaar Studios reserves the right to re-assign and dismiss any TA position at any time
  
• Please note that TA positions provide free courses ONLY and do not include out-of-class services (such as online mocks or vignette grading)
• TA positions are not available for partial course attendance or for individual ARE divisions.

There is typically one open TA position for each course.
